ST MASTERING Mixdown Guidelines

– It is important to follow these guidelines to avoid unnecessary delay.

– If mixing more than 1 song, please indicate the order in which the songs are to be mixed.

– It is important to include a rough mix, either by MP3 or WAV for us to reference when completing the initial review.

Managing Multi-Track Session Audio Files

1) File format: Send each stem in the highest resolution possible from the source recording project in WAV or AIFF format, Avoid sending unintentional clipped or distorted stems. Ensure all multitrack stems are sent in singular format. For example, do not combine various stems into 1 stem to lower stem count unless these are creative decisions involved.

2) Managing a session: Only one folder should be sent for each song. It should be labeled as “(Song title – BPM)”. No other session files should be included. It should be notated clearly and correctly so there is no misunderstanding of what a part is. Parts that are not to be used should not be included.

3) Exported Multi-track Stems: Commit any effects that are part of the tracks-integrity into the stem. All automation should be removed from your session and included in each audio stem.

4) Track Labelling: Since there is no standard for this, We ask you to spend some time and label the instruments so there is no guessing what they are. As with all projects, song notes are helpful for specific requirements and the overall objective.

Revision And Changes

We aim to get it right-first-time but we understand that adjustments are necessary to help achieve your specification. If you need anything changed according to your specification it is helpful for you to provide the following information:

1) Any adjustment will require you to refer to the EXACT stem name you provided.

2) Provide time references in mm: ss as to where the changes are required.

3) For volume/fx changes communicate them in percentages Example “square bass at 01:04 reduce volume by 30%”

With every track we offering mix & mastering on, there are intricate processes involved, many in real-time (fader riding, analog recording process. We cover TWO Revision sessions for mix and mastering (you can include as many changes as you like in each session). Further Revision Sessions are billed at £30GBP for up to 2 further revision sessions. Please do not use our online mix and mastering services if in the event you are not able to work with us to revise any work to your requirement. We require the revisions to be initiated to us within two weeks from the date we deliver your work unless you’ve given us notice and we have agreed with you a longer period extension in advance.

For repeated end-user adjustments we charge a £30 fee, here are examples of what would be considered as a repeated end-user adjustment:

Example 1) You listened to the first submission and you’ve requested us to turn down the hi-hat part. We revise the hi-hat part as you requested and send you another master for review, After listening to master B you ask us to turn the high hat back up slightly but in reality, we are turning it back up to where it originally was. This would be classed as a repeated end-user revision and would be billable.

Example 2) You have listened to the master we delivered and think it could do with a new part and you have submitted a new stem for us to incorporate into your project. Additional elements added that were not part of the original mix/master project would be classed as a repeated end-user revision.

Example 3) You have listened to your mix and you would like us to change the arrangement by taking out the 4 bars of the break. You have submitted a new stem to us to incorporate into your project. Arrangement changes that were not part of the original mix/master project would be classed as a repeated end-user revision.

For anything related to the following examples, billing is applicable at £30 which will cover our time in 2 further sessions. As we are working both in analog and digital domains manual recall is required and this surcharge covers set up. The fee is also applicable for revisions outside the 2 week revision period.
